Walker Shop

The Walker Shop went through a redesign fall of 2010 to launch parallel to the fantastic new WalkerArt.org. Building and designing a new shop on Shopify

Kittens & Cupcakes is a game made for the exhibition Meow Meow LOL, a show that explores the satire and kitch of internet phenomena of cats. Kittens & Cupcakes was a collaboration of Trevor Burks and Myself. Below are characters from the game, screen shots, and some inscriptional photos.

Northern Spark

Northern Spark is a new MN Festival modeled on a nuit blanche or “white night” festival. Collaborating with Matthew Rezac, we developed a website featuring all artist and participating organizations, a mobile website and “My Night”, a feature on the site which you can plan your night by adding artworks to your night.

Re-Presented Narratives

“Re-Presented Narratives” is made up of four chairs that face four large screens on four walls of a room. Small speakers dangle from cord at ear height by each chair. The chord runs from the speaker to the seat of the chair. Each screen shows individuals who experienced the performance from nearly a year ago, telling their own remembrances.

Open Field

Open field is he Walker Art Center’s summer gathering where they open up their backyard. Building a website accompenied with a mobile theme. Throughout the site there are markers spread throughout representing verbs related to the field where user can access other areas in the site in a less hierarchical way.

Phase Shift

Phase Shifts was an exhibition where Ben Moren and I were invited to create a set of works that revolved around They Wont Find Us Here gallery’s unique attributes. We chose the lack of heat in the gallery. We used this unique setting to address the change in seasons from winter to spring.

Identity and web for an alternative gallery space in Minneapolis. Based on their ever-evolving and ambiguous programing, we developed the identity to be just as fun and rewarding.With Annie Wang, Neil Coons and Alex Roche.

Lotr Abridged

LOTR Abridged examines the relationship of film and photography. The movie Lord of the Rings is broken down into individual frames then blended together to make on image. This project explores the core of the visual narrative and tries to see if color tells the same story.

Johns Hopkins Social Media Initiative

The Berman Institute recently received funding that would facilitate it’s faculty to contribute to current debates, within the news and television entertainment. Identity systems created by Alex Roche and Michael Aberman. informed by these systems we created two websites, One to focus on bioethics in news stories and the other to focus on bioethics in television.

Two Side of The Same

“Two Sides of the same” presents a paradoxical situation that perverts our reality and expectations; it disjoints us from the present. By constructing this apparent “out of body” experience it allows us to re-consider our perception and understanding of ourselves.

Royal Headphones packaging

Vintage Royal Walkie Talkies were re-branded and packaging was updated to give a more modern feel. A slab a walnut was machined to make a custom box to fit the two walkie talkies and two 9-volts batteries.

Re-presented home videos

In this project I sit down with individual viewers, one at a time, and recall memories of growing up in northern Minnesota. At the same time, five super 8 projectors show short film clips illustrating my stories. In actuality these films are re-recordings from other peoples home movies found on the Internet.

Interconnect

Interconnect explores the prosthesis of personal space and consists of two devices. Each device is worn by a separate person, One device consists of cassette player with a speaker the other device consists of a guide to maneuver the tape from the cassette.

JFK Assassination Color Critical

The Zapruder film has been one of the most scrutinized artifacts of our time. My goal is to distill the video to its most fundamental elements, RGB values. RGB (Red Green Blue) model is an additive color model in which red, green, and blue light are added together to comprise an image. By analyzing the most basic components I hope to discover that the visual narrative is maintained and told even in the colors.

Focus

Focus was inspired by the novel Siddartha by Herman Hesse. In the story Siddartha tried many different approaches to reach enlightenment. Each approach gave him a narrow path to follow, which gave him an equally narrow perspective of reality.

Illustrations

These are Illustrations of people and places around Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Hand drawn then later scanned in and manipulated.

F.M.J.P.T.M.W.A

This work confronts the apparent pervasiveness of pop culture in our everyday lives, politics, economics, aesthetics, morality, ethics. Our inability to escape exposure to the media leaves no part of us untouched, unaffected, unaltered.

Collections of Collections

The typical way of how we choose to record moments are in terms of year > month > day > the artifact , which in many ways is the opposite to the of how memory works. This document is exploration of a non-linear forms of timelines and the excavation of artifacts of my past lives through my collections.
